Officer Anthony J. Jackson has been with the department since 1992. Officer Jackson began his career in the Patrol Division and found an interest in the K9 Unit. Officer Jackson, commonly referred to as "AJ", is currently teamed up with K9 "Bart". "Bart" was imported into this country from England and "Barts" specialty is Narcotics. A.J. and K9 "Bart" are both certified under the Virginia Police Work Dog Association and U. S. Customs certification standards. Representing the Richmond Police Motorcycle Unit is Officer Shawn Nunnally.

Officer Mark D. Castillo and K9 "Raysa" are the Police Departments Explosive/Weapons K9 team. Mark and "Raysa were teamed together in 1997 after the City of Richmond found a need for an Explosive/Weapons Canine Detector. K9 "Raysa" is a female Dutch Shepherd and was imported from Holland. K9 "Raysa" is also dual purpose in that she has been trained in the area of Utility work. Officer Castillo is currently undergoing training as a Bomb Technician in addition to the maintaining the responsibility as a k9 handler. Both Officer Castillo and "Raysa" are certified through the Virginia Police Work Dog Association Certification Standards for Explosives and Utility. Officer James H. Turner joined the Richmond Police Department in 1988. He became a k9 handler in 1991. Officer Turner and K9 "KITT" became partners in the fall of 2003. K9 "KITT" is Officer Turners fourth k9 while he has been assigned to the unit. "kITT" is a german shepherd/malanois mix and was imported from Europe. K9 "KITT" and Officer Turner are both certified under the Virginia Police Work Dog Association Standards, in the area of Utility Work.

Officer Cliff Stone, also known as "Puddin", has been with the Richmond Police Department since 1987. His current assignment in the K9 Unit is that of Master Trainer for the Utility Dogs. Officer Stone has been instrumental in setting training standards for the k9 unit and acquiring accreditation standards for the k9 units training area through the North American Police Work Dog Association. Officer Stone is a Master Trainer with the Virginia Police Work Dog Association and Master Trainer for the K9 Unit. Officer Cliff Stone and K9 "Sniper are certified as a team in the area of utility work under the Virginia Police Work Dog Association Standards.

Officer Robin Robinson has been assigned to the Richmond Police k9 unit since 1997. Officer Robinson and K9 "Bo" are a Narcotic Detection Team and graduated from a twelve week Basic Narcotic Handler Course on July 3rd, 2003. K9 "Bo" is a passive response narcotics dog and is a 2 year old mixed black lab. Officer Robinson and K9 "BO", are both certified as a team under the Virginia Police Work Dog Association Standards and the Richmond Police Departments Certification standards. Officer Robinson's first dog, K9 "Brody was retired and is currently living at home with Officer Robinson

Officer Melvin A. Spain was assigned to the Richmond Police K9 Unit in August of 2001. Officer Spain has been with the Richmond Police Department since September of 1995. K9 "TYCO" is a two year old Dutch Shepherd imported from Holland. Both Officer Spain and K9 "TYCO" have completed a 14-week basic school in December of 2002. The K9 team are certified in the area of Utility work under the Virginia Police Work Dog Association Certification Standards.

Officer Rob Gregory has been with the Richmond Police Department since September of 1983. Officer Gregory has attained the Virginia Police Work Dog Association status as Trainer. As Trainer, Rob completed his first Police Patrol Dog School for the Richmond Police Department in December of 2001. K9 "BULLIT" is a male German Shepherd and as been in the Richmond Police K9 Unit since 2003. Officer Gregory and K9 "BULLIT" are both certified as a Utility Dog Team under the Virginia Police Work Dog Association Utility Dog Certification Standards.

Officer Ronald E. Oaks, Jr. first joined the Richmond Police Department in 1997. Officer Oaks was first assigned to 3rd Precinct Patrol Division where he worked the North Side of the City of Richmond. Later Officer Oaks was re-assigned to the Power shift Unit within the 3rd Precinct before being transferred to the K9 Unit in October of 2000. Officer Oaks K9 partner is a 3-year male German Shepherd Dog named "MAGNUM". Both "MAGNUM" and Ron attended a 14-week training school and graduated in December of 2000. Officer Ronald Oaks and "MAGNUM" are both certified as a Utility Dog Team under the Virginia Police Work Dog Association Utility Dog Certification Standards.

Officer Montague V. Agee joined the Richmond Police Department in May of 1997. Officer Agee first started his career working in the Uniformed Patrol Division in 1st Precinct. About a year and half later he was transfered to the Uniformed Bike Patrol and then was transfered to work in the Richmond Redevelopment Housing Authority Patrol Unit. Officer Agee was transfered to the Richmond Police K9 Unit in October of 2001. Officer Agee's partner is a 3 year old male German Shepherd named "JUSTICE". Both K9 "JUSTICE" and Officer Agee attended a 14-week training school and graduated in June of 2002. Officer Agee and K9 "JUSTICE" are both certified as a Utility Dog Team under the Virginia Police Work Dog Association, Utility Dog Certification Standards.
